This article was originally posted on October 2nd, 2017 on Riley Q's Fashion Blog hey loves! Thank you so much for all of the love & support on my last posts. I really have loved seeing your feedback! Update: *thanks* to my incessant tweeting & blogging, the temp has FINALLY dropped & fall is back in full swing. I literally could not be happier. With a chill in the air & a crunch in my step I can finally pull out all of my favorites. jackets, flannels, all of the denim, & my favorite: LEATHER My- oh- my how I love leather. you can go from classy to casual to business to a rocker chick- all in the name of leather. Leather jackets, skirts, bags, shoes, accents- all of it- so good. Fall is my favorite season for leather. Why? Summer- too hot. Winter- too cold. Spring- eh, lets pull out all of the colors & like patterns. Fall? That's the season of start ups & School & new relationships- a second New Year's- if you think about it. Today I am going to show you some of my favorite ways to wear leather! I think it's always fun to come up with new combos & Interesting pieces that make you feel alive & excited to wear & tell people about it. It's just another art form. C O L O RRed. is. iconic. It's Memorable, Breathtaking, & Relatable. There's literally a song called "Red"- (shoutout to t -swift ) . Red, in my opinion is even better on a leather jacket. Two things that both make a statement- all in one. I love this jacket because it adds a pop to every outfit I pair it with. People literally have been known to know me by my rLJ... I know everyone does not like red though- so there's always blue, green, yellow, pink, classic black, & brown leather to play with. I love to style my RLJ with jeans, a graphic tee, & Booties! I think the key with colored leather- because it's already a big statement piece- is to keep the rest of your outfit simple & monochromatic. (BLACK IS ALWAYS SAFE!) An additional note- I almost ALWAYS buy vegan leather and my favorite store to buy from - for colored leather- is Forever 21. you can click on the pictures above for a link to the jacket. p.s. - Red is sold out online, but not in stores! S K I R T SLeather skirts are so very fickle. I feel like they're one of those things that will never go out of style, but it depends on the year to determine where they're appropriate to wear them to. Sometimes they're appropriate to wear to work, sometimes they're not. Sometimes they are the perfect statement piece, & sometimes you're just not in the right crowd to wear them. User discretion. My favorite way to style leather skirts is to pair them with a really fun blouse that makes a statement with a pop of color in your shoes. Guys- this whole outfit cost me a total of $50. I think the most expensive piece was the necklace - and that was because I got it full price at a boutique. I kid you not - the skirt, shoes, & shirt cost me $30 total between two thrift stores- Plato's Closet & Clothes Mentor. I love thrift stores. They're literally my slice of heaven ! Oh my gosh- we LOVE this place! Claire & I spent almost an hour sorting through vintage pieces spanning from the 1940's-1990's. Every piece is in Great condition and is handpicked by owners, Lindsey & Kaylan. They started this shop in 2005, staring in the attic of a bookstore, "Kaleidoscope". Lindsey spoke with us about how she chooses pieces: |
Interested in any pieces dated in the 1920's or earlier? They have them! But they are not available in store, only on the website. We hope you will visit The Getup Vintage and fall in love with it as much as we have!
